Taken by cell phone,
he grins shyly, she glows as
if her prince has come.
Stark trees hide flowing
sap like a dormant love that
awakens in spring.
Fine fountain pens, ink,
leather folders make work seem
like gracious living.
Snowpack seems solid
but underneath, droplets sing
of melting caverns.
Bandana over
his sweet smile, ninja to his
anime girlfriend.
He won me over
with his Facebook comment on
her profile picture
Like green periscopes
tiny shoots peer from muddy
beds searching for sun.
Soon, darkness recedes.
But tonight I wrap myself
in velvet-starred black.
Flat mapped names turn in-
to forested hills, roads wind
towards adventure.
Rumbles of thunder
promise that soon fat raindrops
will bring refreshment.
